Some of the worst offenders of oppressing minorities were closeted minorities themselves. A lot of notoriously homophobic leaders turned out to be gay. It's like they're trying to overcompensate to be accepted in the group they want to fit in. Human psychology of fitting in your surrounding social group is a weird thing.

[–] digredior@lemmynsfw.com 2 points 2 months ago

I think it’s a really weird confluence of acceptance seeking mixed with internalized homophobia from a religious upbringing. There’s such a strong self hatred they can’t help but take it out on others, because they feel:

  1. Jealous that they don’t get to suck cock too (or for the ladies, have a meal at the bearded clam).
  2. Jealous of the self acceptance others have had. That is, if they’re gay, “why don’t they hate themselves for that too?”
  3. Enacting violence against someone like that is a perverse proxy for violence against the part of themselves they hate the most.

But like, that’s just my opinion, man…

She's also really homophobic, and anyone whos been a 17 year old lesbian knows and felt a little worried and possibly had an awkwardly consummated crush on the local exactly that bitch. Mine grew the fuck up though.

JD Vance is 100% one of those people who knows he's evil, and thinks morals and ethics are for idiots.

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 40 points 2 months ago

They know others are bound by morals, so they use it against them.

Is this the woman that burned the koran?

IIRC her name suggests that .... her recent ancestors were also migrants?

[–] primrosepathspeedrun@anarchist.nexus 46 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

her recent ancestors

No, no. She is though.

[–] null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Oh man. Genuinely curious how she rationalises this.

[–] halcyoncmdr@lemmy.world 35 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The same as all Republicans.
"Fuck you, I got mine."

My cousins (Florida, natch) are half-Thai and also white supremacists. It's just nutty as fuck. TBF they are two of the most cracker redneck motherfuckers I have ever met, so props to them for overcoming their genetics I guess.

[–] null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Rationalises. How does she justify her behaviour in her own mind. How is she good when immigrants are bad.

Valentina Gomez, also known as Valentina Gomez Noriega, was born on 8 May 1999, in Medellín, Colombia. Her early years were shaped by a strong sense of discipline and commitment, values that would guide her in academics, sports, and leadership. In 2009, she immigrated to the United States with her family, a move that would open doors to higher education and career opportunities.

Gomez’s Colombian heritage plays a significant role in her identity. Proud of her background, she often speaks about her home country and her desire to give back, primarily through community and nonprofit initiatives.

No idea what the fuck this website is but that seems exactly right somehow.

...Noriega? Any relation? When did her mom get to Columbia?

What... What's her mom's dad's name?

Or, his daughters names are known. What's her mom's name?

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Isn't Columbia is Culombia.

I'm surprised this happened before Trump even took office.

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The Trump energy was already on the Republican base before Trump. He just learned to gather it.

[–] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Back when the Tea Party was doing its thing, my parents were all "oh this Tea Party is so much worse than traditional conservatives" and now with trump they're all "trump is so much worse than traditional conservatives". No, these turds have been stinking up the joint for fucking ever. They just have more power now (a lot more) than they had in the past.

[–] curbstickle@anarchist.nexus 4 points 2 months ago

I feel the desire to point out, she was born in Columbia, too

[–] Deflated0ne@lemmy.world 21 points 2 months ago

They can try it if they like.

Sow the wind. Reap the whirlwind.

[–] ArbitraryValue@sh.itjust.works 17 points 2 months ago (6 children)

Totally off topic but I'm impressed that she managed to get a photo of the gun during the brief time that the slide is back after the shot is fired. That takes good timing and a good camera.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Or shit luck. Got this pic of my buddy when I first setup our camp in the swamp.

In any case, that pic is doctored or the target was full of flour. Nothing but old-school black powder smokes like that.

[–] meco03211@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Could have been the last round.

[–] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Not sure I'd trust her with more than a single round loaded at a time, might pull a Baldwin.

It's not a pass to get stupid with a weapon, of course, but it reduces the likelihood of a potential~~ly~~ ~~hilarious~~ accident.

Isn’t it’s frame from a video?

[–] Jerb322@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

You sure that's a migrant under there and this isn't just another conservative who wants to kill Charlie Kirk?

[–] Marleyinoc@lemmy.world 13 points 2 months ago

Fuck, Vance is such a fucking goober.

[–] skeptomatic@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 months ago

Seen the video. She can barely speak English.. Deport her.

[–] Kwyjibo1@lemmy.myserv.one 9 points 2 months ago

Valentina Gomez, I am surprised maga hasn't turned on her and deported her to the Congo or something.

[–] Melvin_Ferd@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

Cool that we only ever get to see this stuff on lemmy. Fight the good fight though everyone. I think you're all staying individually informed and that will help somehow.

[–] wulrus@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I thought: Certainly referring to terrorists, not immigrants in general?

It seems that the original post has been deleted for violating the TOS of X (quite an achievement!). Screenshots of it show "This is cheaper than deportation", which I can't verify, since it's not on archive.org. If true, this post would be correct.

She reposted later with the text: "This is cheaper than deportation. Public executions for rapists and murderers." and a slightly different picture from the same set.

Which is not true; death penalty is really expensive. Could only make it cheaper than deportation without due process, possibly implying that intentionally.

[–] digredior@lemmynsfw.com 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You’re funny… you’re assuming due process given.

They've been calling everyone they deport "rapists and murderers" for quite some time now. They've never made a distinction, there's no reason to think they'd start now.

They were wise to pick JD Vance as VP. He has that personality that just sucks most of the immediate hate away from old donny.
