As an American, I don't think my government needs any help defending itself in its quest to create another smoldering husk of a middle eastern terror state that hates us more now than they did before we bombed them back to the stone ages.

Keir Starmer has demanded that the Iranian regime ends retaliatory strikes on neighbours in the Middle East in response to a pre-emptive attack by the US and Israel

nigga what

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

I think he's talking about strikes on Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and UAE.

UK condemned the US/Israeli strikes on Iran.

[–] 3abas@lemmy.world 5 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

The strikes are on American bases used to attack Iran, they aren't on the gulf countries themselves, no matter how you or the leaders try to twist it.

The only danger to civilians has come directly from falling debris from not letting the missiles hit their intended targets. The US/UK/gulf militaries are not defending civilians, they are protecting American bases.

Meanwhile Israel directly bombed an elementary school on a school day in Iran and killed over 50 children.

The UK should condemn Israel, not Iran for defending itself after a surprise attack in the middle of peace talks, or "preemptive" as they like to call it.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 hour ago

Does that explain the civilian who died in Dubai?

The UK should condemn Israel

Pretty sure they already did

[–] mlg@lemmy.world 10 points 12 hours ago

Now I know why its called The Onion

The joke is the layers of sarcasm

"preemptive regime change strike" by itself is already making my head spin lol

[–] middlemanSI@lemmy.world 30 points 13 hours ago

A: "Today I saw some psychopaths bombing the shit out of some kids.."
B: "So, did you do anything to help??"
A: "Sure I did! You should have seen how we destroyed those kids.."

[–] grte@lemmy.ca 146 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's not defence when you're on the side that attacked, Starmer, you worm.

[–] Kirp123@lemmy.world 110 points 1 day ago (2 children)

So Israel and the US attacked Iran. Iran then fired back, the UK now is dogpiling Iran because they are firing back?

"Don't defend yourself! Just lie back and let it happen."

[–] imrighthere@lemmy.ca 64 points 1 day ago (1 children)

uk crawled all the way inside trumps diaper quite a while back, did you not notice that ?

[–] ProfThadBach@lemmy.world 25 points 1 day ago

That is a disgusting image. As an Anglophile I am sad as fuck at the state of England.

[–] bob@feddit.uk 41 points 1 day ago

Fuck me, this response genuinely makes me feel less safe in the UK. What the fuck does the orange paedophile have to do before this utter prick stops siding with him.

[–] Babalugats@feddit.uk 69 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Israeli military bombs another school (wtf is their hard on for schools in general. They either want to kill them or fiddle with them)

Trump (the biggest terrorist in the world at the minute) declares that he wants to take out the terrorists.

And the UK joins in. On their side.

Fuck off.

[–] Riverside@reddthat.com 3 points 8 hours ago

Zionists are cruel on purpose because their intention is to generate widespread hatred of Judaism in the region, to justify internally that "we're only invading them because they're antisemitic and dangerous to us".

[–] Felis_Rex@lemmy.zip 15 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Provokation and emotional response.

In my mind that would be the main reason why. An sane population wouldn't stand for their children to get killed and you do nothing. It forces your opponent into action and you can exploit that action.

With some infrastructure and certain targets a response can be delayed. Mass civilian/children casualties mean an immediate retaliation is in order or your population revolts to make one happen.

You see it in Palestine; people with nothing to lose become beligerant. You kill their kids they attack viciously. Much easier to attempt to justify fighting a "vicious rabbid opponent" than a defense less peaceful one. However, if they go the opposite end and attempt peace and calm, they are easy to mow down

If you are housing US or Israel military you are part of the attack. It's as simple as that.

[–] greyfrog@sh.itjust.works 1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Sadly the whole of the EU is complicit then. We all depends on US protection.

[–] ArgumentativeMonotheist@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Protection from who?! We were well on the way to normalizing things with Russia since the early 00s, and then the Burgers couped Ukraine and fucked with the pipeline. China has never shown any aggression, they're the world's manufacturers so business is good for them, and countries like Pakistan, India, Iran and NK have nothing to do with Europe geopolitically speaking.

So, again, who do you think Burgerland is "protecting" us from? Nah, man, we're there with them as sidekicks when it's time to murder and pillage, and we get the scraps (well, our aristocrats, mostly).

[–] greyfrog@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 hours ago

Then kick them out of your countries. Leave NATO.

You've still not managed to state now we are defending the US. We are defending ourselves.

[–] blackn1ght@feddit.uk 8 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

Did anyone here actually read what he said, or just reading the headline and jumping to their own conclusion that the UK is joining in on the attacks?

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 15 points 18 hours ago (6 children)

Is there really an applicable difference between joining in on the attack and defending the person doing the attacking? That's like holding someone's hands behind their back while someone else punches them. For all intents and purposes you are part of the attack.

[–] blackn1ght@feddit.uk 1 points 12 hours ago

It doesn't say the UK is defending Israel, it says defending allies.

Defending Bahrain or Jordan from incoming missiles is completely different to attacking Iran.
