I'm a bona fide alpha male. Imagine Joe Rogan but more buff and with additional BDE. When I talk everyone listens. I was the star of every sports team I've been part of. I can lift a motocycle above my head and then ride off into the sunset on it.

Usually posting fit-pics on insta but I accidentally clicked a link and ended up here.

I’d say I fit neatly in the Dork category. At least, that’s what my imposter syndrome would have me believe.

We’re only nerds if we come out of the Silicon Valley region of California. Otherwise, we are just sparkling geeks.

we're on a niche open source reddit alternative built by communists, written in rust, with multiple sizable linux communities

[–] pinball_wizard@lemmy.zip 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm not. College dropout waitress married to an artschool dropout chef.

[–] daggermoon@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I don't believe you, you use Lemmy. You are at least somewhat nerd.

[–] Nemo@slrpnk.net 8 points 2 months ago (4 children)

Ah, but I'm on the anarchist instance.

[–] daggermoon@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

So your reasoning that you're not a nerd is that you're an anarchist? I got some bad news for you...

Well, anymore. Should really update my music library instead of streaming it.

Who else does research on obscure social media platforms because they are fed up with mainstream surveillance capitalism social media.

Edit: If to be a nerd is to have a strong interest in something particular then everyone should be a nerd because having interests is awesome.

I'm not a nerd. Nerds are smart.

[–] trk@aussie.zone 9 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I'm not smart enough to be a nerd.

Yea I’m just weird

We're early adopters. By definition: we're nerds.

[–] jenesaisquoi@feddit.org 7 points 2 months ago

Not only. There are also some communists and furries.

[–] ShyCake@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 2 months ago
[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I wanted to be a nerd but I can't even geek. I'm more of a dork.

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Careful. That sounds like dweeb talk.

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

No.

Next question.

[–] fullsquare@awful.systems 5 points 3 months ago (12 children)

Excellent! I like it.

[–] libra00@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago (3 children)

Everyone is a nerd about something. That's how interests work in general: you only ever get called a nerd for being interested in something that others aren't interested in, but they're also interested in stuff you're not interested in, so..

I’m writing a book on adaptations. I wouldn’t consider myself a nerd, but writing a book about adapting works from one medium to another is very nerdy.
