Oh no! Anyways...

I'm really saddened though by the amount of needless destruction of resources and life that this war causes.

[–] discocactus@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago

That's the worst part. Huge waste right when we need to be lowering our footprint. The only positive will be damage to extractive international capitalism based on fossil fuels, and potentially the pressure to make economies more local and less fossil fuel dependent.

Seems more like they are calling their shots to show the US military cant stop them. "9 ball, corner pocket".

As a counter to their swagger, I say we surround those buildings with our well-trained and highly-competent ICE agents. As the missiles rain down they can shoot them out of the sky with their rifles. Its worth a try.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 22 points 1 week ago (1 children)

And the more ICE agents the bigger the chance it will work.

[–] billybob@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I know they’re both fired but being the patriots they are I bet Kristi Noem and Pam Bondi would be willing to help out as well. Hell you know Pete Hegseth would do wonders for this country if he was over there. Send the whole crew over. It would be the most patriotic thing Trump could do.

AFAIK Stargate is Sam Altman, not Elon. You're probably confusing with Starlink and Starship.

[–] backalleycoyote@lemmy.today 42 points 1 week ago (6 children)

Starlink is Elon, Starship is Mickey Thomas, Stargate is Ra.

[–] HuudaHarkiten@piefed.social 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Or perhaps they were just saying that because its worth saying, even randomly in random places.

Do it and nothing of real value to humanity will be lost.
Except of course the monetary value of the AI chips. and those are owned by the 1%, so taking away some of their control, Iran will actually do Democracy of the world a favor.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 44 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh no haha, don't threaten The data centers hehe

Don't threaten me with a good time

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 40 points 1 week ago

....because Iran understands who runs the USA.

[–] silverneedle@lemmy.ca 38 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (3 children)

You gotta give it to Iran for being completely unbested when it comes to identifying pressure points (markedly ahead of the largest economy in the world.)

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 22 points 1 week ago (5 children)

My theory is that there is a strong potential that Iran is going to come out of this bullshit war as a regional power that can punch way above their weight class.

[–] TrollTrollrolllol@lemmy.world 21 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I think the actual goal is to create a fierce enemy hellbent on destruction of the US so there is always an enemy to fight. That's why they are bombing the schools and research centers, they want to make the Iranian people hate us completely so they can always say "You have to elect us, they want to destroy us and the other party is weak"

We have always been at war with Eastasia.

[–] knotRyder@lemmy.ca 36 points 1 week ago

I see Iran has taken lessons in the "get the world to like you" class

I did not have Iran saving us from Slopnet on my bingo card this year but here we are.

[–] doingthestuff@lemy.lol 28 points 1 week ago (3 children)

As someone who dies not support Iran, I see nothing wrong with this headline.

Imagine telling someone even like a year or two ago that in this war Iran would be the "good guys".

and it's one of those conflicting good guys cause...well...Iran and all the shit they've done to their people. I want to cheer them on for doing exactly this to data centers but at the same time I feel very guilty for doing so.

[–] hayvan@piefed.world 41 points 1 week ago (14 children)

More like antihero. Iran regime is evil, plain and open. But in this evil vs evil conflict they are the underdogs. In sheer military strength it's not even a close match. They are making do with what they have and hitting the bigger evil where they can hurt.

[–] rozodru@piefed.world 23 points 1 week ago

yes, antihero that's what I was looking for. thank you.

They always have been in conflicts with America/Israel. As it turns out, what America and Israel want for Iran is somehow even worse than the Islamic Republic.

Iran has been preparing for a war for the past 25 years. Pretty sure they have a couple of cards left.

[–] evenglow@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago

"Should the US proceed with its threats concerning Iran's power plant facilities, the following retaliatory measures shall be promptly enacted. All power plants, energy infrastructure, and information and communication technology of the Zionist regime, and all similar companies in the region that have American shareholders, shall face complete and utter annihilation,"

[–] oopsgodisdeadmybad@lemmy.zip 14 points 1 week ago

Hey do that and come here and Bob ours next, and if you're still feeling frisky, bomb the pop up ICE headquarters next.

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago

Deadpan voice: oh. No. Please don’t.

The only way out of this I see is to drive a wedge between billionaire oligarchs and this administration. Seems like a smart move.

Dear Iran,

The world can only get and maintain an erection or ladyboner for so long.

If AI is gonna bust, we should bust as well.
