Recently started watching old 90s and 80s shows just for the fun of it, because I'm bored with all of the new stuff that's coming out, and I fell into Knight Rider.

My review of the show so far aside, it's got straight up the most banger theme music I have heard in a TV show in a very long time.

https://youtu.be/lxhWxv_5bQ0

It got me wondering what other TV shows have really great theme songs?

Maybe it’s a weird late-set form of nostalgia, but the one for Wakfu always got to me.

One of my favorites is Black Sails

Greatest American Hero - Great theme song but the show hasn't aged so well IMO. I would love to see this rebooted.

WKRP in Cincinnati - Great song and really great show.

Dukes of Hazzard - Another great theme song whose show hasn't aged so well.

Stargate

Lost in Space: Season 3 You'll never guess who composed this one. Go ahead and look it up, I want you to experience the sheer awe I did when I found out.

It's objectively The X-Men Animated Series theme. All other answers are invalid.

sanford and son’s theme is a segment from a quincy jones song called streetbeater. the full song has a great solo section

Sometimes when I'm bored and just to fill the space I will start singing this. It's a great theme song.

I commented because I was thinking of the theme song for Doug and then I listened to this because I wanted to hear it again and I realized it's a completely different song.

It's still a great song, though. It's just not Doug.

I hadn't thought of this for probably 40 years and those neurons just woke up to remember the lyrics.

Fairly Odd Parents might not be the best, but it is worth mentioning.

Adding an obscure one: Judy Greer did a short-lived sitcom with Chris Parnell in the late 00s called Miss Guided. She played a high school guidance counselor. The theme song was played for all of about 2-3 seconds at the beginning of every episode, but that was enough for me to find the band. The song is Beautiful Possibility by The Lisa Parade.

So many really good ones. I’ll add a couple I haven’t seen:

1970s Battlestar Galactica Buck Roger’s Original Brady Bunch (I hate it, but damn if it isn’t catchy) Happy Days You’re The Worst Coupling Better Things

If the Theme from Hawaii Five O doesn’t get your heart pumping, you should call your doctor

[–] bizarroland@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

Great theme song.

This is the kind of music that should play when you and the boys are out on the prowl.

Garth Marenghi’s Dark Place, hands down the best there ever was.

Edit: I take that back. Lupin The III Part 2, hands down the best there ever was.
