It's fitting that a right wing influencer would scam their right wing followers.

Even though it is so very rare? XD

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 33 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Why would you pay money to attend a political rally?

A right wing one at that?

Seems dumb.

[–] Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world 29 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Especially for a minor American pundit in Australia. What's even the point? She knows far less about Australian politics than American politics and that's already a very low bar.

[–] Obituarykidney@lemmy.world 15 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

So do the people that bought the tickets I bet.

Used to with with a guy that would not shut the fuck up about Trump. He was from New Zealand, living in Perth so he couldn't vote here, couldn't vote in America, and didn't vote in New Zealand. He thought the liberals were the left wing party here, couldn't tell you the PM's name here or in New Zealand, but he could tell you what Trump had for breakfast and recite his 40 latest tweets while he listened to Joe Rogan.

[–] DiaDeLosMuertos@aussie.zone 4 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Sounds awful I could tell you trump's last 40 tweets but for entirely different reasons. (OK not really). We recently had A Kiwi bloke at work that went over to the States. One of the reasons was to see "the comedian" Joe Rogan. I said something negative about Musk and this bloke defended him saying how doge had saved heaps of money for America. Lol.

There were more things, anyway he's gone now thank goodness.

Seems dumb.

That's because it's American culture. Politics is celebrity and entertainment over there, as opposed to here where no one gives a fuck outside of cookers and nerds.

[–] NoForwadSlashS@piefed.social 30 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

So you can just take their money, spend it, then not get in trouble for it? Brb, spinning up a right wing influencer touring business.

[–] TribblesBestFriend@startrek.website 9 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

But wait ! There’s easier way, let me show you build a site to sell patriotic « freedom phone »

[–] DickFiasco@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Hmm, is the freedom phone gold-plated?

[–] TribblesBestFriend@startrek.website 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Yes. The Freedom Phone is « Gold »™️ plated

[–] harmbugler@piefed.social 3 points 3 weeks ago

It's designed with gold values in mind

[–] EggInDisguise@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 3 weeks ago

A fool and their money are soon parted.

That said, I'm all for sending Klandace to Australia to face charges. Idk if anyone will get their money back, but it's worth a shot!

Okay, just to be clear here - fuck Candace Owens

But . . . If you read the article she was actually scammed out of a bunch of money too. She even gave the promoter money to cover refunds and they just didn't refund it. Rocksman (the promoter) is the real villain of the story.

I mean, it's messed up all around, but I'll at least give credit to C.Owens for trying to get people their refunds. Also I'm not exactly crying over these folks getting fleeced but holy shit it's crazy what the promoter did and got away with and what they stole.

Conservatives always lie.

C Owens is almost certainly in on the scam, but she needs to make herself the victim because conservatives always do

[–] eureka@aussie.zone 4 points 3 weeks ago

Conservatives always lie

The truth is even more damning than the slogan: they lie so blatantly and constantly that no-one can trust when they ever tell a truth.

I think if you're going to a Candice Owens talk you're probably pretty used to being scammed.

[–] Stern@lemmy.world 14 points 3 weeks ago

Joel Jammal, the head of Turning Point Australia and a sponsor for the tour, said he believed it sold 15,000 tickets, which started at $95 and ranged up to $1,500 for VIP tickets, suggesting Rocksman sold at least $1.4m worth of tickets.

I love a nice feel-good news story. Also, sucks to suck.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 4 points 3 weeks ago

Is being a right wing stooge the easiest grift on the planet or what?

[–] Marthirial@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

Is the total amount swindled $3,750?

[–] rljkeimig@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

I heard it was closer to $8,647 ¯\(ツ)

[–] stumu415@lemmy.zip 4 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Why are still 15000 aussies willing to pay money to listen this American grifter?

[–] Obituarykidney@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago
  1. people are idiots
  2. we have a ton of right wing idiots and American politics is so loud that they get really into it.

Our right wing is mostly about billionaires and corporate theft, with only the minor parties doing the racist schtick. So the racists tend to be Maga despite it not being all that relevant to our politics. Although Pauline Hanson's one nation is getting bigger since the liberals have fallen out of favour and she's good at racism.

Have you not yet had the pleasure of seeing our Discount Donald, billionaire Clive 'charismatic as a carpet' Palmer?

It’s grifters all the way down.

[–] luthis@lemmy.nz 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Candace Owens is fake and gay

[–] Dojan@pawb.social 3 points 3 weeks ago

I don’t normally speak on behalf of the LGBTQ+ community, however; ew! We don’t claim her.

[–] gtrcoi@programming.dev 3 points 3 weeks ago

Oh no. Anyway.

[–] nightwatch_admin@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

“Candace owes us” oh you conspiracy nutcakes, it’s even in her name.
