The existence of the G-spot as a distinct structure has not been proven, nor has the source of female ejaculation.[4][5] Although it has been studied since the 1940s,[2] disagreement persists over its definition and location.[4][6][7] The G-spot may be an extension of the clitoris, which may be the actual cause of vaginal orgasms.[7][8][9] Sexologists and other researchers are concerned that women may consider themselves to be dysfunctional if they do not experience G-spot stimulation, and emphasize that not experiencing it is normal.[5]

The lack of study of women's anatomy is abysmal.

The clitoris wasn't fully anatomically described until 2005.

I always forget this fact because it’s so incredulous. Then I re-learn it every time. I’m not looking forward to Alzheimer's

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone 28 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

I carry this factoid with me out of pure rage and spite.

[–] Aeao@lemmy.world 20 points 2 weeks ago (14 children)

We also use male dummies in most tests so try not to need your seat belt or ever need cpr if you are a woman

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yep and that's still true to this day

[–] 13igTyme@piefed.social 12 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

I remember reading an article a few months ago that they finally made female crash test dummies.

If I remember correctly Sexologist Dr. Lindsey Doe has a story from her time as a student where she was in a lecture where a dude was talking about there being no evidence of a G-Spot, and joking about squirting as a concept being a made up porn gag, and she's sitting in the auditorium being like "but I experience G-Spot orgasms and squirt, like... often" 😅

Now, to be fair to the field at least a little bit, I understand why maybe she didn't want to stand up and shout "I routinely hammer my G-Spot and squirt all over the place" in front of her peers, and even in a clinical environment I could imagine it's not the most orgasm-conducive setting to have a bunch of electrodes and cameras and stuff setup and then to be like "okay, now please show us all what it's like at home. Anytime. We're all ready to watch"

Sounds about right. Like confidently claiming that women getting wet isn't a real thing ...

And we still cant find it...

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 19 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

That's because 99% of it is inside the body, surrounding the vaginal area. I'm surprised at the wiki stating it "might" be the source of vaginal orgasms. It's a huge mass of nerves around the area... yeah, it might be what's doing it.

Why did I just open lemmy to this dude posting like 30 post about vaginas and penis

[–] thejml@sh.itjust.works 82 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I don't know, but it's better than most of the doom and gloom news, clickbait and borderline advertisements normally in my feed, so I'll take it!

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 35 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Don't be so sure, this is clearly astroturf marketing for penises and vaginas.

[–] Quokka@quokk.au 21 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

I am in the market for a new vagina.

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 10 points 2 weeks ago

I always welcome interesting and educational info on genitals in my Lemmy feed :)

[–] JohnnyEnzyme@piefed.social 15 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Speaking of that, there's a fact or factoid that just came to me, and it's that (IIRC) we all started out as girls in the womb in terms of genitals, only later in the case of males shifting towards the usual arrangement before eventually being born.

So I have this dumb idea when some he-man type is being overly sexist of reminding him that he used to be a girl. :D Then back it up with facts & science as necessary.

Probably a good way to get punched in the face, or something like that. 😅

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

We do all start out as girls in the womb!

The other sex factoid that pisses off dumb men is that its the sperm that determines if the fetus will be male or female at birth.

We have two sons. My wife has grown more dicks than me.

Ah yes, and then you have Henry VIII and other power-figures wrongly blaming their wives for not producing a suitable heir.

Reading the book Sapiens has helped open my eyes about a certain amount of this patriarchal bullshit...

[–] ZoteTheMighty@lemmy.zip 10 points 2 weeks ago

People often complain about how "we lost the old internet", but this is the good stuff right here, g-spot and all.

It used to be on the front wall, but we've redecorated.

Uhhh yeah, that’s why you hook your fingers.

In my experience, it's about behind where the clit is. If you make your thumb and index/middle finger into the shape of a tuning fork, insert the fingers, you can rub both at the same time. Some women enjoy this, though get permission before you try!

Also, don't stimulate with your finger tip, as it's very easy to unintentionally involve your finger nail. Use the pad of your finger, and yes, it'll be a bit less comfortable for you, but way more comfortable for her. If you automatically switch to easier movements when you get tired, keep your nails trimmed and try to keep the contact closer to the pad than the tip (I know that nothing sucks more than getting your partner close but also getting too tired to keep up the movement to finish her, don't scratch her in that moment).

[–] VirtigoMommy@sh.itjust.works 19 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Pro tip! Scratch your tongue with your fingernail, if you can feel the ridge, so can she.

[–] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, the closest a male body has to inside a vagina is your gums and the area inside your asshole (at least out of the relatively easy places to reach).

Also, women tend to have skin that isn't as tough, so something feeling fine on your own skin doesn't mean she'll be ok with it. And friction causes wear (including from your tongue), so try to not focus overly on the same areas, take breaks, and use lube. If you aren't using condoms or toys, oil-based lube is better than water-based lube in that it lasts longer.
