So cool to see technology be degraded and become more expensive all because some billionaires are in a gigantic circlejerk over some technology almost no one wants except CEOs and shareholders so they can fire workers....

It's a masterclass in externalities: local communities face the consequences of the resource consumption by the data centers.

Job loss: were all told the "knowledge market" is where you deserve a good salary. AI threatens a lot of that work. Blue collar factory work will go as soon as AI can be properly integrated with nimble robotics that aren't quite there yet. With how disgusting our society is (in the US) there will be no consideration for the people who can no longer find work.

Wealth built on theft and gambling: people like Altman become fabulously wealthy with a system that makes 0 profit and has been built off of the stolen works of millions of people.

Capacity to manipulate: we've had enough trouble with bad faith actors on the Internet with real people. Now we're going to have an endless army of "intelligent" actors that will be weaponized against populations worldwide to secure the position of the ultra wealthy over all of our governments.

I didn't before much, but now I REALLY don't have a positive outlook on our future because of this...

A little on the nose, no?

It's like a complete package, the actual visual representation of what they want to do with Venezuela.

Yeah before I really knew who he was and what he was doing I'd comment on his posts, mainly because I don't like letting obviously misleading right wing bullshit to just stand unopposed, but his responses were always "I like this." The post could have been "DJT punted a newborn baby" and he'd reply "I like what Trump is doing." So I gave up commenting on anything he posts.

Can I add more trolleys? Can the highspeed rail go back and cover the same path the trolley took? Please?

This is how I feel literally every single day, and somehow every single day gives me a new reason to feel like this... I'm so sick of this timeline...

However, that narrative can’t go too far in turning off people on one side of the issue unless the “news” outlet aims to only cater to the other side.

This is literally why the media can seem so biased in the US, because to a large extent it is. They have a market audience they've decided to create content for, there is an intended audience. It's not entirely what one side or the other would believe: biased to manipulate but more like biased in that they aim for a specific audience to serve ads to.

That's just on the whole, I'm not saying Fox or Newsmax doesn't exist for the sole purpose of keeping Republicans in power.

Goron Mamdani would put a stop to the pathetic "weak scrawny Mamdani" memes the right was pushing. They might even come to like him because of it

I was commenting on the fact that people everywhere are moving to the "far right" more and more which is the case here too, whether they win a majority or not in this case doesn't change that unfortunate trend.
