Good moderation isn’t censorship, but let’s be real - good moderation by random volunteer internet users is rarely ever good moderation. Most of the time it’s just suppressing alternative viewpoints.

That’s no different to Reddit though, and it doesn’t work there. Everyone congregates on the “default” most populated subs/communities. Making a new one pretty much never works. It takes the previous one being closed or completely changed for any alternative to get any traction.

Let me check yours real quick…….oh wow, what a surprise - everyone you disagree with is a fascist.

Keyboards exist and are widely supported for them.

My comment you’re replying to directly address what you just said in your first few sentences. I don’t need to repeat it, just look up there and read it again ^^^^^^

Page 2, paragraph 4 talks about what Harvard are not complying with.

Using grants for research vs operating costs is irrelevant. It’s government money. If they RELY on it then they should not be a private company.

Trump demanded that they follow their executive orders and laws. Harvard very publicly and loudly refused. They fucked around, now they’re finding out.

As a side note

I don’t think you know what a communist or socialist is if you think anything I said is a socialist or communist opinion. Scratch that - I know you don’t.

Being “locked down” is irrelevant for a device used to read and write on. All those devices are also significantly more powerful than this thing.

They all also have keyboard attachments readily available across all sizes and prices.

Linux isn’t at all necessary for the use cases the author talks about. Windows would be massively overkill.

In reality that’s not how mastodon or Lemmy or any other fediverse place work though, especially moderation wise. Your instances mods only control content on that instance, and you’re still at the mercy of the tyrannical mods on other instances. With the much smaller population on them, there are already “default” communities about topics that if/when you’re banned from them by some wannabe dictator ex-Reddit mod there’s nothing you can do, just the same as it was on Reddit.

Privacy has been sold as one of the big benefits of the fediverse, like it or not. I just mentioned that it isn’t private at all.

You have COMPLETELY misread my comments and missed the point.

My point was that there are plenty of other better devices suited to these tasks than a little obscure laptop with a crappy keyboard, such as an iPad or Android tablet or eink tablet, or even a phone. My argument wasn’t “hurr durr doing nothing would be better”.

My opinion is “valid in this context” because I’ve spent countless hours RDPd in to various machines and servers in trains, buses , passenger seats of cars, on the side of the road, etc fixing issues and making changes that saved literal millions of dollars at a time, and the last thing I’ve wanted in those situations was a worse device to do it on simply because it’s “different”.

Dunno if you deleted your comment or what but I have the notification for it so I’ll reply to this one:

XXY karotypes exist, sure - that would be a male with a DSD. All DSDs affect either a male or a female. They are disorders that affect one or both sexes, not different sexes.

Phenotypes are whole irrelevant. They’re just observable traits , like height or eye colour. There are no “female sex determining phenotypes”.

It all is very complex, but the number of sexes isn’t - male and female are all there is.

Also you used a fungus as an example of 20k sexes? This is incorrect. There are “20k” mating types, not sexes.

As expected, you’re unable to do so :)
