I mean, I was in high school when the cell phones were largely flip phones and that one nokia brick that could probably survive being run over by a tank and at that point the rule was "nobody gives a shit if it's in your pocket/in your bag and on silent, but if I see it or if it's making loud disruptive noises from wherever you've got it it's going in my desk until the bell rings". That still seems a reasonable middle ground in my opinion. That way, it's still accessible enough in the event of an actual emergency but not usable otherwise.

That little girl looks like she's even sick of grandpa's shit. Hair is bone dry in every photo and the only one of her actually in contact with the water, she's kicking it in his face. She honestly looks visibly upset when he's dangling her brother over it.

At this point, I'm more upset at whoever is in his orbit and is not at least attempting to take Grampa's car keys away

I'm not trying to disincentivize that, I'm being honest about it in a forum where it's highly unlikely they're gonna read it. How many regretful Trump voters who voted that way because they don't pay attention do you think hang out in politics threads on lemmy? I'm not gonna turn any away if I run into one in real life but if I'm being sincere, I'm also never gonna be able to fully trust them.

The reality is, most people don’t make educated decisions at the polls. It’s knee jerk reaction to the economy

Yes, and that's childish and fucking moronic. Do better. I'm admittedly one to over-prepare in general, but I genuinely cannot comprehend why anyone would CHOOSE to not know anything about what they're voting for. "Oh, I don't like following politics". Well, tough shit dumbass; I don't like feeling like I'm stuck in the geopolitical equivalent of a high school group project with the asshole jock who can't be arsed to do his portion of the fucking presentation but here we fucking are.

The situation is dire enough that no, I'm not saying we should turn these folks away. We need all the help we can get. But I'll be lying to them when I tell them I forgive them. I don't think I ever truly will.

I do suspect there's a pretty decent sized chunk who bought into that "Republicans are good for the economy" line of bullshit DECADES ago and have just spent the intervening time hell bent on not giving anything political even the tiniest iota of thought. These people still fucking suck, as that basically involves waking up every day and choosing to be a completely uninformed moron rather than spend 5 fucking seconds thinking about something they find uninteresting. So some are hateful bigots and some are just so fucking stupid it's a minor miracle they've survived this long without someone to follow them around covering the outlets and safety pinning mittens to their sleeves. Fuck em both.

You know Hanlon's razor? We need an addendum to it that I'll be calling Trump's razor: under the current administration, if there's a possible explanation that's both malicious AND stupid, that's the most likely one.

Kraft singles have a rather low melting point. I feel like, regardless of whether they take it or not, one warm day while it's in the back of a mail truck somewhere would cause it to liquefy and escape the weird cheese condom.
