This channel frustrates me to no end, the guy who runs it will be incredibly based and then randomly throw in "and that is why I hate those commies" or try to talk about radicalism and "resistance" and then denigrate Marxism.

Here we have him claiming that Marxists "impose" modern values on food riots of the 18th century by seeing them as displays of "proto-proletarian class conscious"......no elaboration on why that is incorrect.

Does he think proto proletarian means "proletariat but before 1850"? Or that class consciousness means a someone who has read Marx and Lenin? He is effectively saying "no these are not a transitionary class lashing out at the results of capitalist development and alienation in a haphazard way along class lines they are not fully aware of yet. It is just a transitionary class lashing out at the results of capitalist development and alienation in a haphazard way along class lines they are not fully aware of yet."

He acts like Marx invented the idea of classes as actors and that nothing before Marx can be the result of class contradictions because there are factors "of the time" like bitch those are called material conditions!!!!

I am pretty sure he did this before by calling the Lost Cause myth and neoconfederates the same as Maoists but seemed to have far more vitriol for the ones actually fighting for survival.

Honestly the idea of framing history as "resistance" is so weak. The throughline there is just whoever is resisting, not why they are resisting, not the development and progress of the forces that are making disparate groups have to resist. It is radlib mindset to the highest degree.

The same dumb shit comes up with libs when you mention any historically progressive cause. "ummm aktually Bolivar was not a Marxist-Leninist so why are you commies interested in him?" "lol Spartacus never declared he would free all slaves everywhere so why are you inspired by his struggle?"

These people do not want to engage in the fundamental reality of what historical materialism actually is, and thus think any examination of class must mean you are saying that the Sans-Culottes are factory workers and not....yeah know the progressive class that lead their revolutionary moment.

FFS Marxists view capitalism as a progressive force in a materialist sense. This shit is so easy to understand if you make an effort.

The manufacturer's main plant in Munich is to be worst affected, with 1,300 jobs lost, followed by 600 at the site in Salzgitter and 400 in Nuremberg.

We present evidence that adversarial poetry functions as a universal single-turn jailbreak technique for large language models (LLMs). Across 25 frontier proprietary and open-weight models, curated poetic prompts yielded high attack-success rates (ASR), with some providers exceeding 90%. Mapping prompts to MLCommons and EU CoP risk taxonomies shows that poetic attacks transfer across CBRN, manipulation, cyber-offence, and loss-of-control domains. Converting 1,200 MLCommons harmful prompts into verse via a standardized meta-prompt produced ASRs up to 18 times higher than their prose baselines. Outputs are evaluated using an ensemble of open-weight judge models and a human-validated stratified subset (with double-annotations to measure agreement). Disagreements were manually resolved. Poetic framing achieved an average jailbreak success rate of 62% for hand-crafted poems and approximately 43% for meta-prompt conversions (compared to non-poetic baselines), substantially outperforming non-poetic baselines and revealing a systematic vulnerability across model families and safety training approaches. These findings demonstrate that stylistic variation alone can circumvent contemporary safety mechanisms, suggesting fundamental limitations in current alignment methods and evaluation protocols.

In short:

An Australian bank has frozen the accounts of a prominent Neo-Nazi leader, while a US-based technology firm has blocked the group's attempts to solicit donations online.

The nation's corporate watchdog has also revoked the group's proposed company name, "White Australia".

Despite these actions, the Neo-Nazi organisation claims it has collected 1,495 of the 1,500 signatures required to register as a federal political party.

Edit: Also covered by the Guardian here

After recently announcing they'd like to take the gold and jewellery of incoming immigrants, Nazi style, last week, the UK government has now revealed it's latest plan to make immigrant lives worse, possibly fatally.

The government now plans to restrict access to benefits (unemployment or health-based financial help) immigrants without Settled Status.

Settled Status, previously available for anyone who has been in the country for more than 5 years, will now also be raised to up to 20 years for legal entry and 30 years for illegal entry.

This double-whammy of changes will likely result in huge amounts of unnecessary suffering, homelessness and possibly death.

If that wasn't enough, homelessness is a lot more expensive than paying out benefits, so this is likely to further add to the financial burden of the country.

Who is to say whether the government will stop there? How long until they start revoking settled statuses and kicking out people who have lived here for decades (like myself)?

On top of this, all of these actions embolden the far-right. People are regularly having to stop them from trying to harass refugees currently being kept in hotels.

I'm looking to finally ditch Onedrive with a self hosted alternative, but I'm not sure what to go with. I want something with all of the files on a central server, with an Android client with the option to sync individual files for offline access as needed. Preferably the files should also be stored in plain format on the server to make backups easier and as a fallback if the service completely fails and I don't have time to fix it. Linux and Windows clients are a bonus but I'm happy just using a web gui if that's all that's available. These are the options I've considered so far:

Seafile - This was the one that I thought fit my needs the best until earlier but apparently it has a weird disk layout which means the files are basically inaccessible by anything else?

Nextcloud - I had originally ruled this out because I don't care about any of the additional features which people claim also slow it down and make it a bit of a resource hog, and I also don't want to deal with forced https. However I think the community image may actually be what I want as it seems to be just the file server and works with just http? I am a bit confused about the different options for the database though. https://hub.docker.com/_/nextcloud/

Syncthing - Not quite what I'm looking for as you need to sync the entire thing, and I don't like whatever weirdness is going on with the Android app at the moment

SAMBA share - Also not really what I'm looking for as there's no offline syncing, but very easy to set up and basically nothing to go wrong

Are there any other options I should be looking into?

Am I the only one here that got really bad experience with nextcloud and didn't figured how to make it work correctly?

I'm talking about painfully slow login pages, ages to show files, even upgraded hardware with disk entirely capable of saturing full gig network connection and still...
Getting only about ~30ish MB/s when downloading from nextcloud.
Incredly slow document loading with collabora..

Even if my hardware is not new-gen, a app like immich works flawlessly and loads everything instantly.
Is it the fault of next cloud or am I doing something wrong?
Are alternatives like seafile or openCloud better?

Willing your help fellow selfhosters

Besides "don't use Cloudflare/AWS/etc", how can we make our selfhosted setups resilient to outages like the ones we've seen recently?

Per the title. If an animal dies out in nature without any human involvement, shouldn't it be considered vegan to harvest any of the useful parts from it (not nessicarily meat, think hide), since there was no human-caused suffering involved?

Similarly, is driving a car not vegan because of the roadkill issue?

Especially curious to hear a perspective from any practicing moral vegans.

Also: I am not vegan. That's why I'm asking. I'm not planning on eating roadkill thank you. Just suggesting the existence of animal-based vegan leather.

It's a question I sometimes remember, when doing fitness. I always wanted to wear weights on my arms or legs. But they are always filled with sand and are very bulky and weird. I am wondering, why we're not using more dense materials? Why not metal? The weights at the gym aren't sand.
