Of note, it doesn't matter at all what any Democrats in the House do with this vote, because Republicans hold the majority and are going to pass it regardless
The vote was 220 to 207, with 7 Democrats voting for it. If they voted against it would have been 213-214.
Soooo, yeah, it fucking mattered.
Ugh...
From another article: https://time.com/7357264/ice-funding-bill-dhs-congress/
Democrat politicians always think they need to win before they inspire, forgetting that they need to inspire before they win. It's so so dumb. Take a stand for your voters and for what's right, you idiots.
I know most voted against it. I blame these seven, and Jefferies. What a disappointment he's been.
Only 7? You would've thought all of them voted for it based on the generalizations from this sub. This will certainly convince centrists to take your point of view.
I'm not even sure what you're trying to say. Your beef is unclear and your argument muddled.
You guys are not good listeners, and not persuasive.
Yeah so none of them even had to vote for it. There was no downside to voting no. You could claim moral high ground and point to Rs as responsible for ICE. Anyone who voted in favor is complicit and Hakeem Jeffries is complicit for not even whipping the party to vote no across the board.
Yup, this makes it actually much worse
Sounds like complicity.
I mean, even if this failed they had enough money from the last 70 billion to fund ICE regardless.
However, they should have stood up to this regardless. I don't understand what their logic is. They just didn't want to deal with shitty PR I guess.
They aren't any action and only PR. Thats all their jobs and their siblings they hire as consultants.
Of course they only care about that. Its the only metric they measure "how happy the wealthy are"
centrists are consistent in their support for the worst excesses of dictators, both abroad and domestically.
