I didn't like onions as a kid, turns out my mother just sucks at cooking.
I thought my parents' cooking was great, until I grew up and started cooking myself, and discovered I had a talent for it. Now I realize my parents couldn't cook at all.
Now life is reversed, and I'm taking care of my Mom (Dad's gone), and I do ALL the cooking.
I still despise onions though. That wasn't my Mom's cooking, I just despise onions. And green peppers.
It isn't about growing up, onions just taste terrible to some people, the way cilantro or asparagus tastes bad to some. I know a guy who is fine with onions, but feels the way I feel toward them about CUCUMBERS, of all things. They basically taste like water, but he can't stand to be in the same room with one.
I always liked onions in things. In fact I liked all things kids were supposed to hate... Except for eggplant. I just don't like eggplant.

There has always been a lot of poorly cooked eggplant going around. It has a ton moisture that needs to be drawn out through salt and/or roasting and frying to make it not be mushy.
Cooked properly crispy it can be delicious.
It also absorbs oil like crazy, so you have to be careful and when and how you introduce fats.
My reasons for not liking eggplant is weird even to me. But there are a few ways I can eat it.
Children often just want sweets and unhealthy snacks, and it’s up to adults to make sure they get the nutrition their little bodies require. If a grown ass adult decides they don’t want to eat something, though, they likely have tried it and have their reasons for avoiding it. It’s really nobody else’s damned business.
Fuck onions and fuck god.
I tried that once but I cried the entire time. So did god.
