Better for overall health, inhaling carbon monoxide is not advised generally. And as a bonus, you get a really nice flavor of the flower the whole time.
There are particulates that are still harmful, but you can use a bubbler/bong to reduce those pretty well too.

I found a reviewer that mentioned ball vape options for whip style desktop use. Looks kind of promising for a better version of what I used to be doing. I've tried a few different dab rigs of friends, even some fancy digital portable thing with a "joystick" to stir the bowl. I still prefer the whip style's breath control and stirring the bowl between hits with flower.

The use of a torch in dabbing is too extra. Using a blow torch on glass seems too much like smoking crack or meth. No offense to people who smoke crack or meth. Just, having a dab rig feels like a chemistry project.
Smoking weed feels better outside. A vape pen is portable and easy to conceal. A small glass pipe is easy to keep in your pocket with a lighter. Joints and blunts are also very portable and entirely disposable. If you wanted to do dabs outside, you'd have to go to a park or something and keep the rig in a backpack, and you'd have to keep water in a bottle, and carry a torch, and other assorted dabbing tools.

For space, I've found that a nectar collector can be a decent halfway point between pipe/joint and full dab rig. It requires no water and can be heated with a little mini torch, which means the whole kit can fit into one container instead of the whole backpack

Honestly all the different types of quartz are pretty much the same, my opinion is that it's not worth it to upgrade lol. Now if you can get some ruby corundum that would be a big upgrade
