The $94.3 million, "high-visibility, intelligence-led" Armed Response Command (ARC), which was officially launched on Sunday, was among a range of reforms introduced by the NSW government after the Bondi Beach terror attack on 14 December 2025.

It's just one unit, a terrorist response unit, not all everyday cops.

and it would be expected a unit that is only activated in an active terrorist attack would be so armed

intimidation does not work on many terrorists as they expect to die any way

but a rifle might give a sniper a better chance to save lives

I think enough time has gone by where they can just start calling it "South Wales". /s

Its not going to deter shit. But it will result in a fresh crop of shitheads joining the force and cops trying to swing their dicks around even harder

Not only intimidated but alienated in your own society.

The fascination with following the US down the toilet is a constant source of bemusement and terror.

Minns is a corrupt treasonous zionist, which means the majority of NSW labor is too.

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 10 points 4 hours ago

It's just intimidation.

Gotta put on a strong show of force for that 3.5% of the population with a gun license.. and the 0.3% that have ever committed a violent offence.

Practically an epidemic.

But ya know gotta be protected from the terrorists…

Which becomes the worse threat?

[–] dropdrip@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 hours ago

Are they going to shoot the homeless?

Hey WA, NT, SA, VIC.

Could we just cut NSW and QLD off? They're the worst of us. ACT, we can move you to just outside Alice.

[–] micgerne@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Victoria will need to be cut off as well in a month or so if the polls are anything to go by.

[–] FireWire400@lemmy.world 0 points 3 hours ago

I'd be all for cutting QLD off, but at least give me a few years so I can move to Tasmania before you do anything to NSW.

That's not gonna do anything but tell wannabe terrorists to arm up even more...

[–] JasSmith@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 hours ago

As we all know, there is no terrorism in places with no guns...

This is fucking stupid, I can see the point of using SMGs, but full rifles?

Way too bulky, heavy and annoying

EDIT:

I see my mistake, I ment that I can see the point of SMGs in a special situation, like in an active terror attack, not day to day, I am sorry for the confusion.
