I think I've eaten at a cracker barrel twice, both times were on a roadtrip and it was the most established place off an interstate exit, so purely convenience. I haven't the first clue what they even offer, I just assume it's all chicken fried and covered with gravy.

That there are people out there absolutely losing their mind over the logo change is one of the most confusing things I've ever seen. Who. Fucking. Cares? Goddamn, the group that likes to call everyone else a snowflake, sure is the most infantile people on earth.

That said, I'll avoid cracker barrel from here on. I really don't want to be near the sort of people who frequent that establishment. Kudos to them for so proudly self-identifying...

Cracker Barrel is on team TACO. I'm bigly surprised...

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 hours ago

No one even mentions the historical reference to the term "cracker" in America.

[–] Grumpyleb@lemmus.org 7 points 3 hours ago

Isn't there a single entity with a spine in America?

[–] Apeman42@lemmy.world 14 points 7 hours ago

Put the old man back in, but add another man standing behind him with his hand on the first dude's shoulder. They'll flip their shit even harder.

[–] buzz86us@lemmy.world 7 points 7 hours ago

None of them actually care they just want to distract from Epstein.

That's a bummer. I liked the new logo a lot.

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 10 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 1 hour ago) (1 children)

A new logo wasn't going to change the fact it's a racist restaurant chain so it's fine by me of they keep the old logo, not like the new logo was going to get me to break my twenty plus year streak of avoiding this place.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 2 points 7 hours ago

the fact it’s a racist restaurant chain

Calling it Cracker Barrel is truth in advertising in that case.

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 12 points 14 hours ago

And everybody forgot about the Epstein files and we all lived happily ever after the end.

[–] butwhyishischinabook@lemmy.world 19 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Goddamnit stop teaching conservative snowflakes that their annoying, incessant whining works sometimes!

[–] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago

I mean, its cracker barrel. That's their entire customer base.

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 11 points 15 hours ago

Good thing this "controversy" came along, I'd all but forgotten the place exists.

[–] selkiesidhe@sh.itjust.works 9 points 16 hours ago

Whiny snowflakes got their way and now see that they can threaten more businesses to cater to their WEIRD ASS COMPLAINTS

[–] dual_sport_dork@lemmy.world 17 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

I said it in the last thread and I'll say it again here: I do not give a single flying fuck about any political motivation behind the changing nor changing back of the Cracker Barrel logo, either real or simply perceived, but their new logo was objectively terrible. It was so bland and unmemorable that whoever designed it should have their Macbook confiscated and be catapulted into the ocean. That is, the both of them. But preferably one each into different oceans. I don't know how much that braindead rebrand cost them in consultancy fees but I hope they can ask for a refund.

[–] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 18 points 18 hours ago

bland and unmemorable

This is why it was great. It perfectly encapsulated both their food and store. It was an ideal logo for them.

[–] LettyWhiterock@lemmy.world 6 points 16 hours ago (3 children)

Was this just conservatives? I never saw anyone say anything positive about the changes. Potential problems with some decor they might have, I don't think that reasonably translates to completely scrub it of all personality anyway.

[–] normalexit@lemmy.world 7 points 12 hours ago

I'm not a conservative, it was either a bad call or a good publicity stunt.

[–] ragepaw@lemmy.ca 3 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

I'm far left and I thought it was dumb.

[–] limelight79@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

I thought it was dumb, too, but I definitely wasn't upset by it. Conservatives were, for some reason.

[–] xx3rawr@sh.itjust.works 3 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

It's perhaps universally hated but for some an unfathomable reason, a very common sentiment among conservatives is that the new logo is too damn woke.

[–] Quadhammer@lemmy.world 1 points 11 hours ago

You could almost wrap it around to how corporations fuck everything up but that would be too much for their little brains

[–] Corelli_III@midwest.social 22 points 21 hours ago

bro please talk about brands bro please

[–] brax@sh.itjust.works 5 points 17 hours ago

They should increase the cost of of all of their products to cover the increased cost to print their existing logo. There's no way the newer one wasn't cheaper lol

[–] Tempus_Fugit@midwest.social 8 points 19 hours ago

🤣 another win for conservatives. I don't know why I even care anymore.

[–] tnarg42@lemmy.world 5 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

This almost feels like a bet, or an experiment, by social media political manipulators. Like, one guy says to another, "I bet I can make Cracker Barrel change their logo back in less than two weeks using nothing more than a social media outage campaign." "Deal."

And then they do it, with some carefully planted posts across many platforms, and some well-placed calls to conservative commentators, calling attention to those posts. They successfully demonstrate their social media manipulating prowess, and ultimately sell their wares for the upcoming election cycle.

[–] hactar42@lemmy.ml 4 points 6 hours ago

Or more than likely a marketing stunt by Cracker Barrel. Announce a new logo to get everyone talking about you. Then backtrack to stay in the news a little longer. Plus now you don't need to spend any money on new logos. Boom you just got tons of free advertisement.

Republicans are sensitive snowflakes

[–] popekingjoe@lemmy.world 156 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I wish these people cared as much about the president being a pedophile as they do about this mid-ass restaurant changing its logo.

[–] LoafedBurrito@lemmy.world 29 points 1 day ago (2 children)

They need these distractions, otherwise they start to actually think. Their leaders can't have that happening.

If it encourages them to eat there, is it really such a bad thing, I mean t a diet heavy in the types of food Cracker Barrel sells can't be good for you and republicans hate healthcare. Seems like it might be a self-solving problem.

[–] baggachipz@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 day ago

They hate healthcare until they need it. Then they have a sob story and create a GoFundMe.

[–] rekabis@lemmy.ca 5 points 21 hours ago

Awww… the new one was so much cleaner and nicer.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 76 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Step 1: Get a terrible rebranding done

Step 2: Wag the dog with fake/paid outrage

Step 3: Reverse the decision letting people think they’ve won

Step 4: Profit

It’s New Coke all over again.

[–] RymrgandsDaughter@lemmy.world 4 points 21 hours ago (3 children)

honestly I thought it was this too

Its not even political at all. It was just dumb corporate blandness that defeats the purpose of the restsurant's image. Conservatives made it political because their CEO happens to be a woman.
