Ye Power Trippin' Bastards

1633 readers
235 users here now

This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

Posting Guidelines

All posts should follow this basic structure:

  1. Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
  2. What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
  3. Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
  4. Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
  5. Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.

Rules

Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.

Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

YTPB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.

There is a recent desant of Russian trolls attacking Ukraine, with some of them even blatantly saying they support Putin and some others trying to put into doubt evidence of Russian crimes (kidnapping children etc.)

I have been banned from world by @little_cow@lemmy.world for calling one of them out. Also both of my comments, the one in the screenshot and another one where I explain to another user that he is arguing with paid Russian troll have been removed.

The community rules:

  • Rule 5 - Keep it Civil - It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative).

You deserved it, you broke the community rules by accusing someone of being a bad faith actor, which isn't nice.

[–] FelixCress@lemmy.world -3 points 4 months ago (6 children)

accusing someone

It is not an accusation if it is based on facts.

which isn't nice

🤦

[–] Glytch@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

It is not an accusation if it is based on facts.

This statement is simply false.

Accusations can be backed up by facts. They're still accusations. Facts can make accusations more convincing, but they don't stop being accusations when facts are provided.

[–] eugenevdebs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 4 months ago

Please give your evidence and citations the user is paid for by the Russian government.

[–] idegenszavak@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 months ago

What facts it's based on?

Sir, this is lemmy, we already have a lot of users who sounds like paid trolls, this platform is too small to be targeted by some psyop, I would guess they are simply stupid/delusional/tankie than to be a paid russian agent.

[–] curbstickle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

It is not an accusation if it is based on facts.

Your comment was against the rules of the community. Use the report button, bring it to fediverselore, whatever, but that doesnt change the very simple fact here - you broke the rules.

Thats the only context that matters relative to your ban.

Edit: wad/was. I wasn't talking about Doom, I promise.

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 1 points 4 months ago

Appearing to be is not the same as being. If you have evidence of being, share with the class.

[–] npdean@lemmy.today 1 points 4 months ago

What facts do you have to prove what you said? Do you have my bank transactions? Do you have any communication between me and the Russian government?

[–] curbstickle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 4 months ago

YDI

Clear violation of the rules regardless of whether they are a paid troll or not. It doesnt matter.

Use the report button next time.

[–] anarchiddy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Accusing a user of being a paid troll account is against the rules in most instances, even if you somehow have strong evidence for it.

It's an unfalsifiable claim and is frequently used as a way to harass another user over a disagreement.

YDI.

[–] FelixCress@lemmy.world -4 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (6 children)

It is enough to look at this user commenting history to substantiate the claim.

If you see a nazi, say "nazi"

If you see a Russian troll, say "Russian troll".

[–] anarchiddy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Like I said, its not about having evidence or not. It's a disingenuous way of harassing someone for having an opinion you disagree with.

If the opinion is a rule-breaking one, then report it. If it isn't, find a more constructive way to deal with your disagreement.

[–] Onomatopoeia@lemmy.cafe 3 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (2 children)

Too many people (myself included) learned to focus on the person, instead of the idea.

That leads to sophist arguments ("you're a troll"), rather than searching for the truth that lies somewhere between different viewpoints.

It's not easy to keep in mind and to find ways to stay on the subject.

[–] jet@hackertalks.com 3 points 4 months ago

very well said

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

not to mention if you look at the comment history and you see nazi or troll or such then just block.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

No, if you see a nazi or troll call it out so that administration can remove it and keep the community healthy. Do not turn a blind eye to a fucking nazi bar.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Im sorry but im not that nice. I want to block him till the administration deals with his account and he makes an alt I have to then block.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Blocking someone is far more 'nicer' than directly and publicly shaming someone and calling them out for their bad behaviour.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 1 points 4 months ago

no im mean nice to the community.

[–] Evono@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 4 months ago

The issue is, you just broke rules too.

Next time.

Just report him or say something more civil. But honestly if you see a rule breaker just report him.

It's like kinda like real life you don't deal with criminals the justical system in this case mods and admins do.

[–] Keeponstalin@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Being a paid troll is one thing. If I see someone spreading pro fascist propaganda, I wouldn't call them paid, but I would absolutely call them out on promoting fascist propaganda

[–] Outwit1294@lemmy.today 1 points 4 months ago

They might be a troll but how did you jump to the paid part?

[–] Soktopraegaeawayok@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Brother, this isnt the sludge at the bottom of the internet, this is the hardened nastiness under the sludge. These people are the highschool drop outs that disappeared from everyday society. Their weight became so obese they couldn't face life and they started collecting "disability" because their weight/gluttony got so out of control.

[–] tastemyglaive@lemmy.ml -1 points 4 months ago

That's interesting, because when I say "Nazi", you say "Russian troll". Maybe you have your favorite Nazis after all?

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 4 months ago

Looks like YDI. Badjacketing like that only breeds paranoia

[–] eugenevdebs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 4 months ago

YDI, you broke the rules. Not everyone you disagree with is paid.

[–] npdean@lemmy.today 1 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

Omg he got banned due to my report lol

For anyone who bothers to read this, @FelixCress@lemmy.world harrassed me for difference in opinion about geopolitical issues. He then proceeded to harass me by following me around and downvoting all my comments and replied to my comments which didn't involve him. He also used multiple accounts/community (which he admitted to) which then did the same.

[–] eugenevdebs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 4 months ago

I also reported his comments. But mainly since I was checking his profile as I recall agreeing with me on a few topics. Broken clock and what not.

[–] Outwit1294@lemmy.today 1 points 4 months ago

How ignorant and close minded are you to post this...

You disagree with someone over an inherently subjective topic and then harrass them. So the mods ban you. Then you proceed to do the same to the mod by posting this.

No one is allowed to have a different opinion than you?

[–] FreudianCafe@lemmy.ml 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

The fact you belive that one must be a troll to support russia is a great evidence everyone is better if you keep away from political discussion. You ate too much propaganda, maybe detox from capitalist press and learn a bit about history?

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

If you’re supporting Russia’s invasion of a sovereign country and all the war crimes that go along with it you’re as bad as someone who’s supporting Israel’s genocide of the Palestine people.

[–] FreudianCafe@lemmy.ml 1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Damn you guys reach new levels of dumb every passing day

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Which part of what I said is dumb?

[–] FreudianCafe@lemmy.ml 1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

The part where you side with imperialism in the case of ukraine and then against it in the case of palestine.

[–] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

side with imperialism

Ohh i didn't know the definition of imperialism is getting invaded by another country.

Ohh remember when the time India become imperialist when British Empire colonized them? I sure do!

[–] FreudianCafe@lemmy.ml 0 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

If you are able to read, id suggest lenins book in the subject

Ps: you guys reach new levels of dumb over the course of hours

[–] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Uh huh, i don't care about lentils book or your "huhu i'm smart yur dum" comment, i just wanna know what do you mean by being on the imperialist side, so do explain to us dum dum why siding with ukraine is imperialism since you're so smart.

[–] FreudianCafe@lemmy.ml 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Ukraine fights under NATO orders. Who pays, give the orders, provide military equipment and intel for Ukraine in this conflict? As burguerlanders use to say "follow the money"

[–] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Uh huh, so why are they provide support to Ukraine? And what is this conflict about?

[–] davel@lemmy.ml 0 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

It’s been about regime change, Balkanization, and plundering of Russia for a very long tme^1^3.

And all the US support is lend-lease, which the Ukrainian working class will be paying back for generations^5.

[–] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Uh huh uh huh, so why would you say "plundering of Russia" when Russian force are the one that moving west? Who started the current conflict?

[–] davel@lemmy.ml -1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Who started the current conflict?

  • NATO has been expanding eastward since the Clinton administration, despite promises made to Russia that it would never move “one inch eastward” during the G.H.W. Bush administration.
  • The US couped Ukraine in 2014 (and in 2004).
  • The Banderite fascists, with support from the US & Ukrainian governments, started their ethnic cleansing campaign of eastern & southern Ukraine in 2014.
  • Ukraine and NATO states broke the both the August 2014 Minsk I agreement and the February 2015 Minsk II agreement, and have admitted that they never intended to honor them in the first place.
  • Biden publicly assured NATO membership to Zelensky in December 9, 2021.
  • The US rebuffed Russia’s December 17, 2021 draft treaties.
  • Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
[–] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 1 points 4 months ago

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022.

Thank for being honest, the rest is politic.

[–] little_cow@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I temporarily banned you for violating the rules of the community more then once

Please use this time to reflect, read, and pray for you have clearly lost your way

News communities are very important to the discussion of events which impact many people lives

When you make these sort of comments the quality of the post is degraded

In addition the rules are clear for all to read

I will pray for the malice which poisons your heart against the fellow man to leave your body and mind

[–] npdean@lemmy.today 1 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

Since you are here mod, make sure to check how he brigades others (or maybe his alt accounts) to downvote and comment on a single target. He has admitted that he posts my content to other communities for such behaviour (the comment has since been deleted by mods). I have some names but I don’t want to take names without proof.

[–] little_cow@lemmy.world -1 points 4 months ago

You can contact the lemmy.world admins and use this tool https://lemmy.lvanrem.com/alt to find proof

[–] davel@lemmy.ml -1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

There is a recent desant of Russian trolls attacking Ukraine

Attacking Ukraine with what, opinions on social media? People who disagree with you aren’t being paid by US adversaries. Russiagate was a hoax.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 1 points 3 months ago

Oh fuck off with these lies. Imperialism defending ML chud.
