Russian officials routinely make saber-rattling remarks about Moscow's nuclear posture. Sergei Shoigu, a former defense minister who now heads Russia's powerful national security council, made his comments on April 24 in an interview with the TASS state news agency.

Any state level talk of nuclear threat is always done from a position of weakness and in open admission of the poverty of your conventional force. It also shows a lack of understanding and inhumanity.

Always remember, they read Sun Tzu.

Uh-huh. Anyone keeping track of how many times they’ve threatened with nukes? I think this is at least 3-4 that I remember.

Who knows if any still work at this point. Maintaining nuclear weapons costs money, money that can build yachts instead.

My head cannon is putin is frantically pushing the button everyday, and everyday it does nothing, and everyday it is promised to work tomorrow.

Just nuke us already, it wouldn't do a fraction of the damage trump is doing anyway.

Yawn

We're so far past the last "final red line" that it's now just a red dot on the horizon in the rearview mirror.

I hope they don't.

But if they do, it has to absolutely guarantee the 100% complete and utter extinction of the Russian race.

Because we have to set a precedent.

Ah yes, genocide is always the answer.

After all, we killed all the Germans Right?

[–] InvertedParallax@lemm.ee 3 points 13 hours ago

A: they committed genocide when they used a nuke

2: we killed enough nazis that the rest of the Germans learned.

If Russians couldn't learn from the example of the Germans, then theyre beyond learning and a danger to the world.

As much as the rhetoric of Russia is weak and bordering tragic comedy, they should really really not "bring it on"
