What is he even doing on his show?

E: And yes, it is state sponsored terrorism. They're legit terrorising people. They're doing things against the constitution. Against the law.

Simping for conservative voters.

Yep. Same strategy as Hillary Clinton, same strategy as Kamala Harris. It's a real winning strategy he's got there.

There are more Independant voters than Dems or MAGAs, that's who you need to impress. Nobody gets elected without the Indy vote, yet nobody tries to attract it, because the Indy vote won't respond to propaganda, or appearance, or bullshit. They actually want to know how you intend to govern, and politicians don't really want to talk about that.

We will never move on as a nation, until we acknowledge the MAGA stain, truly clean it up, and prohibit it from existing. Our Nation, our citizens, and the World, need to see a true commitment to decisively crushing and purging MAGA. Only then, can we possibly win the forgiveness of the rest of the World.

And I will only support candidates who vow to crush MAGA as their first priority, and then have a plan for reasonable proposals for health care, education, campaign Finance Reform, etc.

And for those who think the Dems need something more than Retribution Against MAGA, they are wrong right now. We will NEVER be able to enact any responsible legislation until MAGA is out of the picture.

Plus, imagine if we'd let Hitler off the hook because "we want to move on," and he got back into power a few years later, and picked off where he left off, except worse? That's what we did with MAGA, and the world is watching to make sure we don't do it again. If we do, this country is done, as far as having any decent friends again.

The problem is it's not obvious that it won't work. Being a black women all else being equal loses you easily 5 percent of votes on its own. That's an election. Newsome is a tall handsome white dude. People won't have trouble "seeing him behind the desk".

Trump and MAGA , in the midst of destroying the country , are also dragging the Overton window further right. The shittier they behave, the less the DNC feels the need for any radical change. Unfortunately, they could easily be right.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

The problem is that centrists don't care if it doesn't work, as long as progressives aren't allowed to run.

[–] DaMummy@hilariouschaos.com 4 points 1 month ago

My dude, the only good things about Kamala are that she's black, and she's a woman.

[–] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (2 children)

If it weren't for covid, Joe Biden would have lost in 2020.

Newsome is younger yes. But he carries the same attitude towards policy as Joe Biden. And he won't be running against Trump who is also old. He'll be running against somebody like JD Vance who is in the same age bracket (or younger I'm not even sure how old that couch fucker is).

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

If it weren’t for covid, Joe Biden would have lost in 2020.

And even then, he had to promise a bunch of shit he never intended to do in order to get the left on board.

Which he then (surprise!) didn't do, which killed the party's credibility.

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 1 month ago

Stuff he was even happy republicans either killed or made dems vote to kill

[–] nova_ad_vitum@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I personally think there's going to be at least an attempt at a palace coup by Ron DeSantis once Trump is gone. He's getting older, and he's ambitious. I'm pretty sure he'll beat Vance if he gets any momentum.

[–] Sharkticon@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 month ago

Eh I feel like he's a broken reed at this point. Abbott is a much stronger challenger but then again i doubt he'd be able to win nationally.

[–] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Florida might like Ron DeSantis. But literally everybody else in the entire country fucking hates that asshole.

[–] Kayday@lemmy.world 37 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I have no love for Newsom, and don't doubt this post's premise, but the video also cuts off before he actually gets to respond; it just shows him nodding along saying "yup" as Ben is talking before (presumably) responding with actual words. I'm curious what was actually said when it was his turn to speak.

[–] Atlas_@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I did the ugly needful. He talked in general terms but didn't really address this comment past this point.

[–] Kayday@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Thank you for looking!

I don't think Newsom has a chance in hell of winning the Democratic primary. Calling him the "frontrunner" is just fluff, the primaries are still over two years away

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 21 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I don’t think Newsom has a chance in hell of winning the Democratic primary.

I don't think we'll be given a choice this time either.

[–] protist@mander.xyz -4 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I hope you're right. I don't have any reason to trust democrats.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

They have a proven track record of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

[–] Sharkticon@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 month ago (3 children)
[–] PyroNeurosis@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 month ago

It may be a typo, but a maw is a mouth, so the aphorism is intact.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 1 points 1 month ago

Fixed. Fucking swipe to text.

[–] Asafum@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Old people are the most likely to vote in primaries and the media will keep telling them how amazing and moderate he is especially as he keep the usual failing Democrat strategy of chasing conservatives that would vote for a Democrat, you know, people that don't exist. I'm pretty sure we're going to have him forced down our throats.

:(

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Based on what?

[–] apftwb@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

the primaries are still over two years away

Don't remind me

[–] Asidonhopo@lemmy.world 19 points 2 months ago

Hes got Bill Maher energy, hopefully he loses the primary or is somehow unable to compete. Trash.

[–] sausager@lemmy.world 17 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Holy shit that guys voice is more annoying then neck boy

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 5 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

He talks fast and with confidence so no-one has time to notice how stupid what he's saying is.

[–] Atlas_@lemmy.world 15 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You might be able to argue that the shooting originally was not state sponsored terrorism. (I would say yes, but there is an argument there)

But once the President and VP and HS Sec. tell you to not believe what we all can see on video, once the investigation in quashed, once the response becomes higher ICE presence instead of de-escalation, then it becomes state sponsored terrorism. Even steelmanning it, I cannot see a reasonable argument against that.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

In her first rationalization speech after the Goode Murder, Noem went into detail about how blocking vehicles have been effective in thwarting ICE raids, and she wanted it to stop. That was when the murder happened.

They were ORDERED to escalate a confrontation, and send a message, and it caused a murder. Maybe they were even ordered to shoot.

We need to know the exact origin of the order, and the exact chain of command that order traveled, and where it originated. Noem, PeeWee Himmler, Trump?

[–] Bronzebeard@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 months ago

I don't think being the only one making it incredibly obvious he's trying to pander because he wants to run, makes him a favorite by default. He's still shit

[–] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (2 children)

If Gavin Newsom is the person the Democratic party chooses for their nominee I will not be voting. I do not fucking care. Having him will be exactly the same as having JD Vance or whoever the fuck the Republicans throw up into their slot.

[–] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I got out and voted for both Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris in the general election for President. We're still in the situation we're in right now.

At some point the Democratic party needs to be forced to realize that appealing to the right is not going to win them anything.

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 1 month ago

Sadly they'd rather lose than learn that

[–] Sharkticon@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 month ago

I hope it's not familiar. I hope they learn that running these kind of candidates will lead to defeat instead of just losing every time like idiots.

[–] Alvaro@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 months ago

Look, either vote or riot, don't diddle in the middle!

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Do you think Trump would have changed his story? More likely he would have doubled down. But Newsome just chickens out. We already have one of those in the White House. What a putz, what a MAGA-Lite

If we are ever going to take this country from MAGA, AND KEEP IT THIS TIME, we have to be as rhetorical as they are. If Dems were doing even 10% of what ICE is doing, they would be screaming as loud as possible, using all sorts of colorful coded dog whistles. We have to embrace propaganda in our own way, and wield it effectively.

After the insurrection, when people were calling it a riot, or a mob, etc., I was reminding people all day, every day, to refer to it as an Insurrection, because it was the language used in the 14th Amendment, Section 3, to prohibit those who have participated in an Insurrection at prohibited from holding elected office. The Dems blew that GOLDEN opportunity of course, but it did get secured in the mind of the public as an Insurrection, and we can take another run at the supporters later.

When this is over, the only way we will be able to crush, and prohibit MAGA, and purge it from our government and society, is to declare it a serious, ongoing National Security Threat, and their members as Domestic Terrorists. Normally that would be crazy rhetoric to be spouting, and the MAGAs have said such, and much worse, about Dems forever, but in MAGA's case, it is true, demonstrable, and undeniable.

MAGA has been the sponsor of a violent, deadly Insurrection, the theft of hundreds of classified documents and state secrets, mind-boggling open corruption, incompetent economic policy, violent colonialism, and much, much more. There are many, many examples of all of these things, and they are NOT in dispute, even among MAGAs. They approve of this kleptokakistocracy, so their wishes can't be respected, any more than we would respect the opinions of Al Capone's buddies about his criminal behavior. We know who he is, we don't need to hear rationalizations from the criminals who benefit by his criminality.

If a FOREIGN country was sponsoring Insurrections, stealing classified documents, etc., we would deal with it harshly, perhaps even violently, perhaps even with a War, but they won't go after MAGA, that wouldn't be polite, and being polite is an OBSSESSION among establishment Dems like Newsome.

We need to designate all of MAGA as an ongoing, unapologetic, enthusiastic National Security Threat, starting NOW. They have made it clear that we are going to destroy all of our alliances, and keep antagonizing the rest of the planet until SOMEONE strikes back. This is obvious, and predictable, and most of all, INEVITABLE.

So let's start using and establishing the language, vocabulary, and definitions that will serve us and benefit us when this is over, and we are trying to figure out how to move forward. At that point we need America to support the end of MAGA, and it starts by declaring them Domestic Terrorists, and National Security Threat, and being unapologetic about it. Then, when this is over, we won't have to compete with MAGA defenses on the most basic charges. They will already be fixed in the minds of Americans, and it will just look like the MAGAs are tap-dancing.

When some doofus like Ben Shapiro asks for confirmation of that, any Dem needs to OWN it and should forcefully, confidentially repeat his statement that MAGA is a Domestic Terrorist Organization and a serious National Security Threat, and the next president's first priority will be the effective crushing and purging MAGA.

In fact, that's MY personal litmus test for future Democratic candidates: If you aren't serious about making the end of MAGA your top priority for your next term (and beyond), then you are ineligible to run for office, in my opinion.

Can you imagine if we had let Hitler off the hook, and allowed him to regain power a few years later? That's what we did, with the whole world watching. We can't squander the next opportunity. We must act decisively.

That starts with declaring them a serious ongoing National Security Threat, and Domestic Terrorism, and standing proud for saying it, and encouraging others to say it, too.
