It took you this fucking long to realize he was a fucking racist?

Not to mention, that's your line!?

Not the trolling, the threats to other sovereign nations, the plunging economy, the loss of trust in the USA, the page after page of him raping children, the lies, the use of federal forces on citizens... It's the racism that put you over the edge?

Fuck this guy. He'll probably vote R down the ballot in November.

It's a cult. They can't just think their way out.

[–] PhoenixDog@lemmy.world 6 points 1 hour ago

I say this often as a Canadian, "No one ever accused Americans of being smart".

These people live in a bubble. That’s their line because they don’t see that other stuff, or when they do they see it through a very specific framing.

They were manipulated. We should be thrilled when they wake up, not berating them for not waking up sooner.

[–] hanrahan@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

They were manipulated.

If I applied that argument to drunk drivers you'd be as forgiving ?

That aside, we're all manipulated, it's relegions resson de entre for example, but why wern't they manipulated by people kindness, togetherness etc ? 80% literally dont care about good and evil.

Kurt Vonnegut, on Susan Sontag

She was asked what she had learned from the Holocaust, and she said that 10 percent of any population is cruel, no matter what, and that 10 percent is merciful, no matter what, and that the remaining 80 percent could be moved in either direction.

"Raison d'etre"

(Not sure if you didn't know or were just betrayed by auto"correct")

They were manipulated. We should be thrilled when they wake up, not berating them for not waking up sooner.

Sure. At an arms length.

Just because a lot of people have come out to say they regret their vote let's see what these same people do in November. If they just carry on with the status quo of "Yeah, I know I regret voting for Trump two years ago, but I'll still vote for the party that supports him", they should not be forgiven. We should not be thrilled they "woke up" because they didn't. Their tiny peanut brain had a quick surge of reality where Trump might be a bigoted piece of shit but they'll still gleefully vote for every member of Congress and The Senate who tows the Trump line because they're too stupid to realize the gravity of the whole thing.

It's truly amazing to me how I'm Canadian and I understand the US Government more than the majority of Americans, apparently.

He takes bribes blatantly, and now he's being a racist.

He was before, but he is now, too

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago

Corrupt, demented, pathological liar is also a racist you voted for three times.

We apologize for the convenience

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 4 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

"Voted for the president, supported him, but I really want to apologize," John said. "I mean, I'm looking at this awful picture of the Obamas. What an embarrassment to our country. All this man does is tell lies. He is not worthy of the presidency. He takes bribes blatantly, and now he's being a racist."

"This is not a decent man," he added. "This is not an honest man. He openly takes bribes. He's pathetic as a president. And I just want to apologize to everybody in the country for supporting this rotten, rotten man."

C-SPAN host Greta Brawner wondered if the man voted for Trump in all three presidential elections.

"I did," he admitted. "I was sucked into the stupidity of creating jobs. And there are no more jobs in New Mexico. Things are worse than they were before."

There must be a path to redemption, and this man appears to be on it.

[–] Focal@pawb.social 1 points 5 minutes ago

I actually agree. He wiped off his clown make-up.

It's sad it took this long, but if enough people have this kind of realization, then the country may still heal. It's one less person squabbling with others in the same class, and I'm led to believe that is what the ruling class fears most.

[–] voidsignal@lemmy.world 4 points 1 hour ago

"I killed 3 people, but now I realize it may not have been super cool. All right. No harm done, OK?"

Fuck you

I could understand 2016. I can forgive 2020. 2024 is pushing it.

but now? NOW is when you change your mind? if you've been a die hard trumper this long it seems weird to change now

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 20 points 2 hours ago

In 2016 it was already perfectly clear that this fucker is the most spectacularly unqualified person for the job. And he never made any secret of his odious views. If you ever voted for Trump, you're an asshole. No excuses.

[–] db2@lemmy.world 19 points 2 hours ago

I could understand 2016. I can forgive 2020.

I can't do either of those things. Anyone who paid the least attention should have known he was crazy 60 years ago if not longer.

He used to tell a tall tale about how he lived in a cardboard box in the street in NYC until someone gave him a $5 bill which he invested to build his "empire" (his preferred word for it at the time). I can't possibly be the only person to remember that ludicrous bullshit.

A man who voted for Donald Trump in his three presidential elections

All I need to know. I wish for them to fornicate with themselves until they expire from self inflicted traumatic injury

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

That's not as easy at it sounds. Trust me.

[–] Sumocat@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

“…now he's being a racist.” — Now? FFS.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 5 points 2 hours ago

SNL just did a skit on this.

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

All this man does is tell lies. He is not worthy of the presidency.

It took you THREE election cycles where you voted for him in each one to figure this out?! Sparky's apparently not the sharpest knife in the kitchen.

[–] flowers_galore2@lemmynsfw.com 2 points 1 hour ago

Still smarter than about 40% of Americans.

[–] BenderRodriguez@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago

Oh, look who's all woke now!!!!!

[–] MisterOwl@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

Fuck you and your apology.

Damn Obama was a lot more popular among conservatives than I thought. None of the other racist shit he's said about black politicians (mostly women) has gotten this strong of a response.
