Supermarket Sweep, insofar as that can be considered a sport.

[–] tsalpasnah@lemmy.zip 8 points 23 hours ago

Pole dancing?

[–] Summzashi@lemmy.world 6 points 23 hours ago

I vote paintball with horse armor.

Also the markers are mounted on the horse, turning them into agile paint tanks.

[–] Archimedes@sh.itjust.works 5 points 23 hours ago

Ice hockey. I mean, ice polo. The fights would be wicked.

I read through all of these suggestions and up voted mom. But even after reading all the others, yours still made me audibly chuckle.

This thread is terrible, the obvious answer is surfing.

Bobsledding.

Water polo seems cruel to the horses.

[–] Vandalismo@lemmy.world 5 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Then we should hippos instead

[–] billwashere@lemmy.world 5 points 21 hours ago

So water polo with murder cows?

Sure I’d watch that.

Chess.

I wanna see two nerds trying to castle while riding at a full gallop, trying to juggle the board on the back of a saddle like a first-time dad trying to tell his wife to hold on until they get to the hospital.

[–] plutopos@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 hours ago

That one season of Yu-Gi-Oh where they rode motorbikes for no reason

[–] LaLuzDelSol@lemmy.world 3 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

You should check out chessboxing it's actually very entertaining

They dont actually fight and play chess at rhe same time, they alternate, but the whiplash is wild. And you've got high-level players completely shook making blunders cause they were fighting 30 seconds ago

[–] LunarLoony@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 2 hours ago

So what we're saying is: chess jousting

Chess without horses is just lacking something

[–] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago

Knights usually.

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Swords would be a great addition too!

[–] Hossenfeffer@feddit.uk 19 points 1 day ago

Equine baseball would be awesome if the field was double the size. The speed involved in base running and outfield would be awesome

Five-card stud suddenly takes on a new meaning.

Is your question implying that you think polo is better than hockey? No way!

[–] CazzoBuco@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Most sports are worse when you add in animal cruelty imo

[–] thebestaquaman@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

Horses are social animals that enjoy being active. I don't know where animal cruelty was mentioned here?

I'd argue that most equestrian sports would be better with bicycles. Bicycle polo is apparently a thing.

Not horses, but there’s a version of bullfighting in japan which is basically just a couple of bulls pushing each other around. If all goes well, neither gets hurt.

Eta they call it bull sumo
