People have moved closer to the middle from both sides, but the average has moved to it being bad.

Plenty of things have been tried.

Like communism has been tried multiple times. Every time was an unmitigated fucking disaster.

Thats weird.

Turns out I have no idea how to link to communities. Maybe if I link to a post in that community you can see what I mean.

I'm on lemm.ee so I guess thats why that link comes up. But when I click on the community the previous link I sent is written at the top.

I found your post interesting found another community from you.

Just wondered if you ever post on energy@slrpnk.net with batteries being so integral to cars and energy seems like a good overlap and would like to see more in depth comments on energy.

Fuck the Tankies fuck communism entirely, I just got back from Cambodia, got an economics degree and like capitalism, China's a bunch of dickheads.

BYD is going to change the world.

It's the classic incumbents move slow into new tech. Added with government investment, low labour costs, access to raw materials/adjacent industries, hungry growth focused companies, semi crazy workforce.

I haven't drove a BYD or even a electric car for that matter but reading the stats things are going to move fast and the rate they move is going to increase. I can see all the west companies largely losing their overseas market, other than luxury, inside cities. The world's moved on and people don't realise.

My view is it's pure hypeware until proven otherwise.

This isn't Tesla hate from my side either. The general consensus from enthusiasts since the beginning is Tesla is way off the mark. But the latest self driving upgrades using more LLM tech has apparently been a big step up. By that I mean going from poor assisted self driving to good assisted self driving. Getting it from there to no driver behind the wheel is another matter all together. Maybe they had a single jump or maybe it's a new path of consistent progress, I have no idea.

I'm not expecting much from Tesla. I would absolutely love to be wrong.

Expecting more from baidu, pony.ai and zoox more than Tesla. Hell even BYD with the Chinese backing it has might beat Tesla.

I've been to Los Angeles and Austin. Is San Francisco seen as a bright sunny desert climate?

Was hoping at this point in time Waymo would be expanding more aggressively.

But no one else seems immediately on the horizon and Waymo is consistently expanding well so they are doing very well indeed.

I'm excited for the last mile problem to be solved and be able to cycle on roads without drivers that actually wish I was dead or playing about on their phone. Also I hate driving.

"Key Points

  • Alphabet reported Thursday that Waymo, its autonomous vehicle unit, is now delivering more than 250,000 paid robotaxi rides per week in the U.S.
  • That figure is up from 200,000 in February, before Waymo opened in Austin and expanded in the San Francisco Bay Area in March.
  • Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said Waymo is building partnerships with ride-hailing app Uber, automakers and operations and maintenance businesses that tend to its vehicle fleets."

Irrational markets are irrational.

There is a reason people lose all there money on the stock exchange and there is reasons idiots make loads of money.

Any expert on this stuff are probably avoiding and have been avoiding Tesla for about 10 years. But cryto Bros have been investing for 10 years and been making loads of money.

Remember people. You don't own the money until you cash out. $100,000 in Tesla isn't the same as $100,000 in the bank.

Maybe less than all the murderers we have now. Being straightened out by the military is a well known phenomenon. We can't keep doing the same things when trends are showing they aren't working, then expect them to work better. Something needs to be changed.

In a way.

But there was a lot of lies that represented legitimate concerns and remain didn't really do a good enough job of bringing leave along with them. Pleanty of "we got lied too, no on told us". No no no no. Remain clearly said the truth and you listened to the lies.

Also fish was fucking weird. Seems like people will die over fish.

But people were told immigration would go down. People have been wanting immigration to go down for 60 years and it's never happened. First direct vote about immigration going down is obviously going to be a big factor. Didn't happen though so far right will win soon.

Probably going to get slated for this but surely at some point we need to accept our being all nice and friendly all the time just doesn't work.

Like if kids are this bad send them off to military school for a month till they shape up. Happens again 6 months, then 12. Government mandated, parents don't like it, they can look after their kids better.

People are absolute shits and don't give a fuck about others or their future. No amount of "please pay attention or you won't understand algebra and won't get a good job" will do anything, you will just get "Why do i need to learn algebra! I'll never use that. John just told me to shut up, what am I meant to do? Just let him disrespect me like that. You should be talking to John!"

Fuck them. Make them do press ups in the rain see if they learn to shut up then.
