It would be stupid and terrible either way, but that was a government takeover.
And just like that, we find all the pro capitalists. Go beyond healthcare to another basic need, and it gets defended. No wonder we can't push it the other way. We'd love to seize the means, but there has to be a path.

One of the DARE cops took me on a ride along. Dangerous domestic violence situations aside (he took me to the doors), just driving down a main street. He was of course speeding, and a car jumped the median coming head on. He made an amazing fishtail maneuver, spun the car around. He pulled them over into a parking lot. We sat for a minute while we both checked our shorts. We got out (still don't know why I was allowed out of the car). The driver tried to get out her car and fell on her face. Beyond drunk.
I've been in some life or death situations, but this was surely one of the closest.
I almost got killed on a police ride along. Wait, didn't love that part.

Perspective, you are being very reductionist. Not that i disagree necessarily. Creating a country rarely came from lets all get together and sing happy songs, but there are vast differences among formation of countries, colonialism, and genocide.
