Kraft said in a statement on Instagram: “I have dedicated much of my life to building bridges between all people. I believe deeply that all lives are worth protecting.

That's like saying 'all lives matter' in response to the Black Lives Matter movement; it's disrespectful of the point being made.

It’s like thinking reverse racism is a thing.

[–] Ledivin@lemmy.world 50 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

He very literally tried to pull a "I can't be racist, I have black friends" because he's worked with a couple people who happen to be Palestinian

What bridges has he built, I wonder.

"Oh well this one time I built a bridge between my accountant, and my finance guy, and this stadium I wanted to buy"

Kraft is an Epstein customer and human trafficking expert. Lowest of the low.

[–] eatCasserole@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago

100% disingenuous word salad bullshit. Not even worth reading.

[–] WhyJiffie@sh.itjust.works 16 points 1 month ago

Building bridges between the fascists and everyone else, so the fascists can do their thing

[–] yucandu@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago

He's saying he's built bridges with murderers.

I’m starting to get annoyed that Sheeran is getting all the hate, save an equal amount for kraft, people..

Update- folks, this was a joke. I’m not defending Sheeran here, merely also expressing my distaste for the rest of the players in this horrible situation.

[–] stylusmobilus@aussie.zone 81 points 1 month ago (1 children)

We are supposed to expect better for Sheeran, or at least he makes out to be decent

People like Kraft we expect to be dog shit.

Sheeran deserves it…at any time he could stand for something.

Everybody already hated Kraft, he's an Epstein perv.

He deserves it. Check out some of the comments on Macklemore’s YouTube videos. Many of the repeated comments are calling out Sheeran saying “being silent in the face of oppression is choosing the side of the oppressor.” They are right, and a lot of people need to be called out in the same way, and feel the weight of their supposed neutrality. It’s about time some of these “apolitical” arseholes felt some heat.

[–] khannie@lemmy.world 25 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Well said.

Apolitical = complicit.

Fuck Ed "I'm not complicit" Sheeran.

Kraft is a pos and doesn't care about us and we can't affect him much.

People like Sheeran have reach and can actually affect people like Kraft, and Sheeran chose not to do so.

this is a warning to other people of influence. be like Macklemore, not like Sheeran. use your influence for good, not to ignore evil.

[–] jerakor@startrek.website 17 points 1 month ago

I think his music all was taken off the air as well.

[–] Malica@lemmy.zip 15 points 1 month ago

It's expected of Kraft

[–] Fmstrat@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago

Others like Kraft will not change if they see consequences. They will double down. Others like ES will see this and recognize they can't sit idle or try to "be neutral" in today's world without consequence, and there is a chance they will change.

[–] Chozo@fedia.io 11 points 1 month ago

They can both be pieces of shit. We don't have to choose just one.

Everything I've ever learned about Ed Sheeran has been against my will.

"removed from the airways" at one radio station in Ireland

I feel a tiny sorry for Ed (not that a guy who has an estimated £400 million net worth needs my sympathy), but he's just some ~~poor~~ rich schlub who's been planning to tour around a bit, play some uncontroversial songs, earn another hundred million, mind his own business and then... kapow!... he's front and centre in a fight that's he's clearly ill-equiped to even interact with.

"Whuh? I just wanted to play some bland music and earn enough money to buy myself a ginger island. What the flip is going on?"

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 26 points 1 month ago (2 children)

kapow!.. he’s front and centre in a fight that’s he’s clearly ill-equiped to even interact with.

You say that like artists - especially Irish artists - haven't been front and center on agitating against the Palestinian Genocide for years now.

He organized tour full of pro-Palestinian activists, ffs. Mackelmore isn't some new figure, either. Jumping on popular leftist initiatives is kinda his brand.

If Sheeren had formed a band with Greenpeace, would he be blindsided when they started talking about the environment?

Like, I'm half inclined to give him some credit just for putting this thing together. Better to have it implode on you than to never tour at all.

Did Ed suicide bomb his career in the name of Palestine? Maybe

I think most stations stopped playing him voluntarily ages ago

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 30 points 1 month ago (5 children)

I couldn't name a single song by this guy.

[–] EncryptKeeper@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago (4 children)

You’d recognize them if you heard them. They were ubiquitous on the radio 5-10 years ago

[–] quack@lemmy.zip 16 points 1 month ago

They sounded AI-generated before AI music was a thing.

[–] HailSeitan@lemmy.world 29 points 1 month ago

This is the way.

[–] ianhclark510@lemmy.blahaj.zone 26 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Thank you Palestine and Macklemore for standing up to keep this Zionist scum off the radio 🙏 now only if YouTube and Spotify would grow some balls

😂 as if

The absence of Ed Sheeran songs is barely distinguishable from their presence.

Good, Macklemore makes better music anyway

[–] hOrni@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm looking forward to removing his cameo from GoT. It won't fix the series but it'll make the last seasons slightly better.

[–] Canconda@lemmy.ca 18 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (13 children)

Nah GoT deserves him. GRRM deserves this after selling out and abandoning the readers who supported his series for years. I don't ever see myself watching the show again. Maybe the first 3 seasons.

[–] then_three_more@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago (2 children)

If you want a good fantasy series to read Malazan Book of the Fallen is way better anyway and finished.

And it gets better on a second read because you notice how many things that pay off in the Crippled God are set up way back in Gardens of the Moon

How long until Ed Sheeran starts his "Why I left the left" grift?

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago

man, I hope this is widespread and permanent. Let us never hear his music again.

[–] Glytch@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago

A shame it's taken this long to get his "music" off the airwaves. It should have happened years ago.
