badposting is a comm where you post badly

This is not a !the_dunk_tank@hexbear.net alternative. This is not a !memes@hexbear.net alternative. This is a place for you to post your bad posts.

Ever had a really shitty bit idea? Joke you want to take way past the point of where it was funny? Want to feel like a stand-up comedy guy who's been bombing a set for the past 30 minutes straight and at this point is just saying shit to see if people react to it? Really bad pun? A homemade cringe concoction? A cognitohazard that you have birthed into this world and have an urge to spread like chain mail?

Rules:

  1. Do not post good posts.
    • Unauthorized goodposting is to be punished in the manner of commenting the phrase "GOOD post" followed by an emoji that has not yet been used in the thread
    • Use an emoticon/kaomoji/rule-three-abiding ASCII art if the rations run out
  2. This is not a comm where you direct people to other people's bad posts. This is a comm where you post badly.
  3. This rule intentionally left blank.
  4. If you're struck for rule 3, skill issue, not allowed to complain about it.

Code of Conduct applies just as much here as it does everywhere else. Technically, CoC violations are bad posts. On the other hand: L + ratio + get ~~better~~ worse material bozo

Who would have thought the business who's only business plan was to get people to keep buying slightly different versions of tacky plastic tchotckes would eventually implode?

[–] EnsignRedshirt@hexbear.net 24 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I honestly think this might be about how dogshit culture has become. Funko Pops are a hyper-commodified form of memorabilia for fans of pop culture. The market for such a thing has growth limits, but there should be a steady market as new pop culture gets made. If the braindead pop culture tchotchke company is struggling to stay afloat, it might mean that we’re running low on pop culture worth remembering.

Do they have a skibidi pop? What about a hamas-red-triangle pop?

[–] came_apart_at_Kmart@hexbear.net 6 points 2 weeks ago

im still waiting for my Real Housewives of Grand Rapids Season 8 Funko Pop Collector's Edition.

[–] LadyCajAsca@hexbear.net 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

honestly, idk why anyone would buy slightly tacky plastic figures when you can get like oh idk, like a toy or something you can use or show off..?

[–] KuroXppi@hexbear.net 13 points 2 weeks ago

Or like gunpla that you build and style yourself

[–] Robert_Kennedy_Jr@hexbear.net 34 points 2 weeks ago

Labubu is ascendant.

[–] Dort_Owl@hexbear.net 32 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

This is good news until you realise they're just being replaced with the equally cringe Labubu

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 43 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Are people buying 6000 labubus and lining the walls of the winter palace with them?

[–] Dort_Owl@hexbear.net 20 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

OK OK geez, didn't expect Hexbear to be so pro Labubu doggirl-lol

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 16 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Oh no, I hate labubus as well, more just noting that they're (thankfully) nowhere near as widespread yet. That or maybe I just never see them because I'm not the target audience. sans-shrug

I'm sorry if this is me not being sympathetic to manipulated and brainwashed people, but... How the fuck to people have money for this shit? Like I understand gambling and drug addiction better than I understand a compulsion to buy a plastic toy and leave it in the box in your house? How does that fit into any person's budget? How is the quota in one's house for these any greater than zero?

$27.99??????

Edit: I wrote this about halfway through the article but just finished it, very interesting, thanks for sharing, still too broke to even imagine buying into this shit

[–] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 14 points 2 weeks ago

I'm the wrong person to ask, I don't mind ugly things but I still find those things repulsive.

These people could bankroll most of the mutual aid requests on hexbear.

[–] ClathrateG@hexbear.net 14 points 2 weeks ago

I think their too expensive to do that but im sure some people's are on their way

[–] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 16 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I think Labubu is far less cringe, but I am a long term Funko hater. Even at my treatlovingest time I thought Funko Pops were trash. :funko-cool:qin-shi-huangdi-fireball

[–] Dort_Owl@hexbear.net 8 points 2 weeks ago

Saaaame they're so ugly.

[–] ClathrateG@hexbear.net 14 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Forgive if im wrong but I dont think they make Labubus that are based on popular IPs? I think there will be something else that fills that treat niche

[–] RedSturgeon@hexbear.net 8 points 2 weeks ago

Labubu looks like capitalist version of Cheburashka and they already have done popular IP's haven't they? But who can even afford a place to store physical goods anymore? We're going digital now, everything's computer.

[–] Dort_Owl@hexbear.net 7 points 2 weeks ago

I just meant "plastic collectable that all look the same to me"

[–] Kefla@hexbear.net 30 points 2 weeks ago

grillman Help, my son has finally had enough of that plastic crap. What do I get him now

[–] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 28 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Receiving a funko pop was the one time I genuinely felt offended by a gift.

[–] 30_to_50_Feral_PAWGs@hexbear.net 13 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Do you have any idea how hard it was to find a Funko Pop of Trotsky?

[–] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 8 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Take your subsumed critique and shove it

They didn't even get the hair right

[–] joaomarrom@hexbear.net 18 points 2 weeks ago

hell yeah, with scarcity poised to go up, now's the time to invest in Funko Pop futures

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 17 points 2 weeks ago

Looks like they popped their last funko

Also funko popn't

[–] DivineChaos100@hexbear.net 17 points 2 weeks ago

is there a chance trump would bail them out if they made an official trump funko pop?

[–] WokePalpatine@hexbear.net 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
